(long comment is long and I pre-emptively apologize)

When I first saw this on my watch page, I thought once I clicked on the thumbnail to make it big, it would just be another picture of Rhyme in TWEWY style probably traced or copied from the official game art. I actually almost deleted this picture from my watch messages without looking at it, but then I looked closer and saw there were some interesting colors and maybe I should have a closer look.

And I am just SO glad that I did. The colors are lovely, and you did so much with just the character's basic design. I never really thought the way Rhyme looked in-game did justice to her personality- she's got this adorable spunkiness to her and she's so wise beyond her years, but at the same time she really is just a kid trying to be cool like her big brother. And I never really got all that from the game art, if that makes any sense. I think the in-game art is very polished and smooth, and that works for characters like Shiki or Joshua who are supposed to have this very put together appearance, but for Rhyme, it never really worked for me. And I think that's why I never really got attached to her just playing through TWEWY. Don't get me wrong, I liked her just fine, but she was never one of my favorites, and I've never really thought about her much when I wasn't playing.

But anyway. This drawing. Dear god. I get so much of a better sense of who she is from looking at this. Her face is so adorable, and her oversized Beat clothes, and her funny little chicken legs, and her hair omfg her hair I just pretty much love everything about this drawing, and it totally makes me see what everybody who likes Rhyme keeps dawww'ing over.

Wow, thanks! =) And yeah, I totally agree--in the game she doesn't seem nearly as timid as she tends to in a lot of the art I've seen.

That's because Squeenix is so epic, none of the other games can match up.

Love it.~ Rhyme looks so shy. ♥

Thanks! =) I always thought she was a little more cheeky or giggly than she was shy, but she's definitely a little shy in some of the official art (thinking of this [link] in particular).

That's why I decided to move her hands away from her face--in the original sketch in my scraps she was covering her mouth.

blah blah blah stop rambling ami

Same. She looks rather cheerful and girlish (despite the clothing, aha.) I guess it's just the fact that they're in the Game that she may be a little sadder than she usually is?

Don't worry, I ramble too. |D

They're planning a sequel, actually. It was announced in Nintendo Power a couple of months ago.
